As a new ham, the thing I found most challenging was the overwhelming volume of available information. I would dive in and quickly get lost and frustrated.

The intent of these pages is to try and provide some structure to that information, and once you’ve got the “NEED to know” stuff (the basics) down, you can dive into other areas that may interest you.

My primary interests are mobile operations, ARES/ACS support and radio support for public events. Most of what you’ll find on these pages relate to those areas. While I’ve dabbled in HF (long-distance/global radio comms), it’s not something I’ve got much interest in at this point.

This is an ever-evolving list I’ll add to as I find more “good stuff” that I think is helpful.

  • Basics – start here if you’re new to / just learning amateur radio.
  • Support – extra resources to help you learn. (Remember – amateur radio is a journey.)
  • Equipment – various radio manufacturers, online stores, applications, etc.
  • Applications – a mixture of radio-related local apps, web apps and mobile apps.
  • Specialties – there are MANY areas you can dive into once you’re licensed.
  • Misc – things that are related to, but not specifically for amateur radio.

Enjoy your journey!
